A jealous thug who left a man with bleeding on the brain for talking to his girlfriend outside a pub has walked free from court.
Caine Sheridan saw red after spotting his partner talking to the victim in Newcastle city centre. He pushed his girlfriend out of the way before punching the man, causing him to fall back and bang his head on the pavement.
A court heard he then ran away "like a coward" before telling a bar manager who asked why he had done it "at least I knocked him clean out". Sheridan, 22, of Whittingham Road, Newbiggin Hall, Newcastle, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding and has now been given a suspended prison sentence.
