JD Vance faced an awkward moment at a rally in Budapest when he put Donald Trump on speakerphone - only for the call to go straight to voicemail.
The vice president, 41, was addressing a crowd in Hungary on Tuesday (7 April), where he sought to bolster support for the re-election of far-right prime minister Viktor Orbán
Vance said to the crowd: “Before I started my remarks, I actually had a special guest that asked that I give him a phone call. Let’s hope he actually answers. This is going to be very embarrassing.”
The call then went straight to voicemail, leaving Vance muddling as he tried to call him back.
Trump eventually picked up the phone and endorsed Orban, calling him a “fantastic man”.
