PATNA: The Janata Dal (United) on Thursday once again raised the demand for special category status to Bihar ahead of Union home minister Amit Shah’s visit to the state for the national executive meet of the party’s seven morchas, starting from July 30.
The JD(U) also expressed concern over the impending threat of recession in the country and sharp fall in the value of rupee vis-à-vis dollar and other international currencies. Former party MLC and senior spokesman of the party, Ranbir Nandan, sought immediate grant of special category status to Bihar and adequate measures from the Centre to prevent adverse impact of the likely economic slump in the country.
