JD(U) leaders protest Centre's move to merge Babu Jagjivan Ram Chhatrawas Yojana with other two schemes

PATNA: Large number of senior leaders and workers of JD(U) on Friday staged daylong dharna and fast at the party’s state office here to oppose the Centre’s decision to change the name of Babu Jagjivan Ram Chhatrawas Yojana (BJRCY). The scheme was meant for building hostels for the students belonging to the scheduled castes.

Speaking during the dharna-cum-fast programme, the JD(U) leaders alleged that the Narendra Modi government not only merged the BJRCY with two other schemes of the central government, namely the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) and the Special Central Assistance to the Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan (SCA to SCSP); but also renamed the scheme as the Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM-AJAY).
