The reigning Heisman Trophy winner was thrust into action as a starter in his first preseason game, and it was bombs away immediately for Jayden Daniels in his debut with the Commanders.

As was the case for Daniels in his Heisman-winning season, his first completion was an absolute dime of a deep ball down the right side of the field to Dyami Brown for a 42-yard pickup on third down. Daniels capped off the drive with a walk-in touchdown. Daniels looked calm, cool, and collected with every snap and looked like a veteran quarterback with plenty of high-level upside waiting to be unlocked.

This was promising to see for every Commander fan, and a nice change of pace from the quarterback play that the team has fielded for the last decade. Of course, this is only preseason, so expectations must be tempered, but it looked like Daniels very well could be the real deal and an immediate threat at the next level.
