Jay Leno pictured for first time since horror fire with severe burn injuries

Jay Leno's severe burns were revealed for the first time as the presenter was discharged from hospital following his horror garage blaze.

The TV presenter, 72, was seen with injuries to his face, neck and arms following the major fire at his car garage in Los Angeles.

He had spent days in the Grossman Burn Centre where he was having 'skin grafts' as well as other surgeries to aid his severe injuries.

Pictures alongside staff at the hospital, Jay has now been discharged but will continue to receive follow-up care from the centre.

A spokesperson said: "Jay would like to let everyone know how thankful he is for the care he received, and is very appreciative of all of the well wishes."

They told TMZ: "He is looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with his family and friends and wishes everyone a wonderful holiday."

Jay previously told The Mirror: "I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am ok. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet."

Video from news outlet Inside Edition gave fans an update on Jay's condition following several skin grafts to help treat the major burns earlier last week.

Jay's doctor Peter Grossman told the programme: "He’s had skin grafts that are not his own, meaning skin that we have in our skin bank. That’s what we initially do as a first stage."

He said at the time that Jay is "up and walking around" as well as making jokes with everyone. Jay even reportedly handed out cookies to children that were also in the burn centre.

Previous reports suggested that the quick-thinking from Jay's pal Dave prevented the terrifying ordeal from being a fatal incident.

According to TMZ, Jay told the outlet his buddy Dave was "right there" during the blaze and "jumped on him, quickly smothering the flames".

They reported that the left side of Jay's face was badly burned. His hands were burned as well.

He had been due to perform at a financial conference in Las Vegas earlier this month, but was left unable to attend due to the serious injury to the left side of his face.

The cancelation of Jay's performance was confirmed to Forum 2022 attendees in an email issued by The Financial Brand.

"His family was not able to provide us very many details, but there was a very serious medical emergency that is preventing Jay from traveling.

"All we know is that he is alive, so our prayers go out to him and his family tonight," the email stated, according to People.
