Jasprit Bumrah warms up for Australia Test series with bouncers

NEW DELHI: With the absence of Mohammed Shami, Team India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah will have more responsibility on his shoulders in this edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.

Both Bumrah and Shami had played pivotal roles in India's historic Test series triumph in 2018-19 - India's first ever Test series win in Australia.

Bumrah took 21 wickets from 4 Test matches with a best of 9/86 that came at an average of 17.00 and a strike rate of 44.9, while Shami took 16 wickets in the four-Test series with a best of 6/136 at an average of 26.18 and a strike rate of 51.2.

Bumrah has played 7 Tests in Australia taking 32 wickets with a best of 6/33, and there's no iota of doubt that India would be banking on their vice-captain for their third Test series victory on the trot in Australia.

Team India geared up for the marquee series starting November 22 in Perth with a practice session at the WACA and it is understood that Bumrah bowled bouncers at his Indian teammates at the nets.

There is no dearth of 'chin music' for the batters whenever any team visits Australia and the Indians were given first-hand experience of being peppered by short-pitched deliveries by Bumrah & Co.
