Jason Sudeikis' 'Ted Lasso' apology to Jesse Marsch after Leeds United experience

Former Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has responded to Ted Lasso actor Jason Sudeikis' apology after the American received comparisons to the fictional TV character during his time at Elland Road.

For those unaware, Ted Lasso is a television character played by Sudeikis who is an American football coach that comes to manage AFC Richmond, a fictional Premier League team, with no experience at all.

Marsch has previously admitted he understands the 'stigma' that coaches coming from across the pond receive in England, claiming he 'wasn't sure Ted Lasso helped' those stigmas.

Since his departure from Elland Road in February, season three of the hit TV Show Ted Lasso has come out, leading to further comparisons, something that Sudeikis emphasised wasn't intentional.

"Do you realise you've put a bit of pressure on U.S coaches that come into the Premier League and they get mocked a little bit for it?" Gary Neville asked Sudeikis in an interview for Sky Sports.

"Not the intention at all," the actor replied. "I haven't had the opportunity to apologise or explain myself yet with Jesse Marsch. Yeah, I understand and I think it's a little lazy of anybody to correlate the two to be honest.

"But that's never our intention, to make things more difficult. I do know that ultimately, if American coaches came into this league and won a whole bunch of games, that [stigma] would probably go away."

"I think for them, that's the biggest problem! They're losing football matches!" Neville joked.

However, Marsch took to social media to respond, quote-tweeting Sudeikis' apology and saying: "No worries @jasonsudeikis! I’m a big fan!!"
