Jason Manford's ITV Starstruck suit gets the same comment as he confirms future of show

Jason Manford was rivalling Adam Lambert in the extravagant outfit stakes as they both made their latest appearance on Starstruck.

The ITV singing competition, which sees a trio transform into an iconic artist before only one person from one of the groups gets chosen to go through to the final to win a cash prize, returned to screens on Saturday night after being missing from the TV schedule last weekend.

The episode saw members of the public recreate stars' performances including Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, Amy Winehouse, and Lionel Richie.

And Salford-born comedian Jason got viewers talking once again thanks to his dazzling suit.

He joined co-stars Adam, Sheridan Smith, and Beverley Knight for the penultimate episode of the series on Saturday night (March 26) while donning a very smart blue suit that had been covered in sparkly diamante crystals.

Olly Murs even brought up the dazzling look at the start of the show. "Jason, love the blazer again this week," the singer-turned-host said. "What you got on it this time?" Olly then asked.

"Well..." Jason replied. "Basically, I had 20 minutes and I popped to Hobbycraft," he joked as Sheridan said: "He's trying to give Adam a run for his money," as the Queen star wore his own intricately detailed blazer with gold cravat.

"I try and keep it up every time I get here," Jason admitted. "Otherwise I end up looking like an assistant headteacher on the end of the row," he added to laughs from the audience and his co-stars.

But Starstruck viewers couldn't help but make the same comment about his blazer jacket.

@BrightonBren asked: "Why is Jason wearing a motion capture suit? #starstruck."

"#Starstruck why is Jason Manford wearing a 3D capture suit..." @rmcwilliams15 echoed.

@TheePaulSmith tweeted: "Is @JasonManford creating a CGI version of himself with the markers on his suit?! #Starstruck."

"Jason manford in that suit mmmm scanning his movement #Starstruck," @MattZeeMiller said.

His outfits first got people talking earlier in the series when he paid an emotional tribute to the 22 men, women and children who lost their lives at the terrorist bombing at Manchester Arena after Ariana Grande's gig in May 2017 ahead of the five-year anniversary.

He appeared on the pre-recorded show in an incredible bee-embellished suit and when he revealed the touching message behind it, it got viewers quite emotional.

Writing on Facebook at the time, Jason said: "For people asking about the suit. It’s just a normal suit which my friend & wardrobe pro Tanja Martin livened up by attaching 22 bees to. #ManchesterRemembers. I’m playing in a charity footy game for @McrRemembers Sunday 3rd April at @ManCity. For tickets https://www.mancity.com/manchester-remembers "

As for Starstruck, Jason appeared to have confirmed the future of the show by sharing a call out for contestants on social media.

He tweeted: "If you reckon you could sing like your idol on the next series of Starstruck then why not put your money where your mouth is and enter #Starstruck," alongside a poster instructing people to head to the show's website if they 'are ready to get Starstruck'.
