Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had himself a heck of a day on Sunday, catching 12 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown in Kansas City’s 31–17 win over the Chargers. Maybe it was because Taylor Swift was in attendance (Kelce has put up bigger numbers when the pop star is in the stadium), or maybe it was because it was National Tight Ends Day.
The NFL has officially dubbed the fourth Sunday in October “National Tight Ends Day” every year since 2019. It’s a movement that started with the 49ers but has come to be embraced by tight ends across the league.

One player who isn’t buying into the hype, though, is Kelce’s brother, Jason Kelce. The Eagles center said on the latest edition of their podcast, New Heights, that it was a “very not real holiday.”

Jason went on to list several other proposed holidays for Oct. 22, such as National Nut Day and International Caps Lock Day.
“Where does it stop?” he asked. “Where does this entire nonsense stop?”
Is Jason just feeling left out that there isn’t a National Centers Day? Not the case.
“If there is a National Centers Day attempted to be made, I will boycott it,” Jason said. “I will boycott National Centers Day, I guarantee it.”
Jason said that he would leave it up to the fans to decide whether National Tight Ends Day was a real holiday or not. In a follow-up tweet, the podcast account posted a poll asking fans “Does National TE count as a real holiday?” As of publication, 54% of respondents have said no.
