Running back Jaret Patterson is entering his third NFL season with the Washington Commanders in 2023. After a record-setting college career, the former University of Buffalo star was an undrafted free agent in 2021.
Now, Patterson’s twin brother, James, will try and follow in Jaret’s footsteps.
The 6-foot-0, 232-pound linebacker was one of several players from the area who competed in the Commanders’ local pro day Tuesday, just over two weeks away from the 2023 NFL draft.
Among those invited to the Commanders' local pro day today, per sources: James Patterson, a LB out of Buffalo and Jaret Patterson's twin brother.

Patterson arrived at Buffalo with Jaret in 2018, playing in 14 games as a freshman and recording 57 tackles. In 2019, Patterson appeared in 10 games, making 28 tackles, with one interception and one sack.
In the COVID-shortened 2020 season, Patterson played in seven games and made 46 tackles with one interception. In 2021, Patterson played in 12 games, made 87 tackles, and had one interception and five sacks. In 2022, Patterson played in 12 games and finished with 88 tackles, one interception and three sacks.
Patterson isn’t expected to be drafted but could land with a team as a priority free agent. He knows there is a path to the NFL; perhaps that path could be in Washington with his brother.
