Jared Goff makes NFL history in Lions loss to the Bills

The outcome didn’t go in favor of the Detroit Lions, but quarterback Jared Goff still did something in Sunday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills that has never been done before in NFL history.

In Detroit’s 48-42 defeat, Goff posted a monster stat line. The veteran completed 38 of his 59 pass attempts, netting 494 passing yards and five touchdowns. Goff also didn’t turn the ball over.

Normally, numbers like that equal winning. In fact, they’ve always produced victory. Goff is the first quarterback in NFL history to top 400 passing yards, throw for at least five touchdowns and no interceptions in a game and lose.

The outcome is not what Goff or any Lions fans wanted, but it’s still one heck of a game from No. 16.
