Japan's Nikkei share average rose to a record high on Tuesday after the Bank of Japan raised interest rates, as had been widely expected, without signaling urgency for further tightening in monetary policy.
The Nikkei 225 jumped as much as 1% to set a fresh record high above 70,000 after the BOJ announcement.
