For more than a century, the building housed inmates behind thick brick walls and iron doors. Now it pours champagne. A former juvenile prison in Nara, Japan, has been reborn as a five-star retreat, and the internet is only just catching on. Travel creator Elona Karafin, who runs the account Japan Like a Local, checked in earlier this month and posted a room tour that has since pulled in a wave of curious viewers. Her verdict, captured in a single line on Instagram: the property is unlike anywhere she's ever slept.
