Japan removes its gymnastics captain from Paris Olyimpics contingent for engaging in drinking and smoking

Shoko Miyata, a 19-year-old gymnast from Japan, has been removed from the country's Olympic team bound for Paris. The decision came after Miyata, who serves as the captain of Japan's women's gymnastics team, confessed to breaching the team's code of conduct by engaging in smoking and drinking.

Miyata, a world championship bronze medallist, was training with her teammates in Monaco when the incident occurred. As a result, she was promptly sent back to Japan from the training camp.
