Jannik Sinner, the Italian tennis star currently ranked world number one, persevered despite a troublesome hip problem to secure a hard-fought victory over Alexander Zverev from Germany. The scoreline read 7-6(9) 5-7 7-6(4) as Sinner advanced to the Cincinnati Open final on Sunday.

Sinner's opponent in the championship match will be Frances Tiafoe.
