RB Leipzig goalkeeper Janis Blaswich insists he was 'not happy' with how his side played in the 1-1 draw with Mainz - as the Bundesliga side's wait for an away this season continues to drag on.
Marco Rose 's side were staring down the barrel of a fourth Bundesliga defeat in just nine games following Marcus Ingvartsen's strike for Mainz just before half-time but in-demand striker Christopher Nkunku rescued a point for Leipzig with his tenth goal of the campaign in the 80th minute.
And despite usually serving as backup to first-choice goalkeeper and club captain Peter Gulacsi, Blaswich was keen to voice his opinions in the wake of the club's latest underwhelming result. Ahead of Tuesday night's rematch with Celtic in the Champions League, Blaswich said: "We knew that it would be a hard-fought match. We're not happy as we expected more of ourselves. Mainz press really well and we had to wait for the moments where we could try and play through them.
"We're still pleased that we were able to come back and get a point. I had a good feeling that we'd get a goal, because we really upped the ante in the second half."
Rose also admitted he was relieved to claim a point, insisting the result was fair, adding: "A win would have been nice, but all in all, it's a fair draw. We started well and should have opened the scoring.
"We lost our rhythm a little. Mainz were very strong, aggressive and won a lot of second balls. We dusted ourselves off at half time and we were confident that we would come back."
In regards to his side's upcoming trip to Scotland, Rose concluded: "We can expect a great stadium with great fans. We have to accept this atmosphere with maximum confidence and bring our performance to the pitch."
Stuttering Leipzig are still waiting on their first away win of the campaign but centre-back Willi Orban is confident he and his team-mates can put things right in Glasgow next week. The 29-year-old said: "We're going in the right direction, so we're going to Glasgow with a good feeling. I'm convinced that we'll soon win away from home as well."
