Janey Godley has shared an update with fans on the status of her chemotherapy treatment.

Sharing a photograph of herself with her husband behind her, Godley tweeted: "Still standing and heading in to chemo number four, I can’t thank you all enough for your continued support and sending me love every day".

She revealed to a fan on Twitter that she now has three more rounds of treatment left to complete.

Dozens of other users took to the social media platform to send the comedian their best wishes.

One said: "I love you so much Janey- that’s just kinda it. No jokes; just love honey."

A second commented: "You've been bringing us the light & the laughs through dark times. Everyone's sending you tonnes of love through yours."

A third wrote: "Hi Janey. I don't know you but I have been following your journey and I send you lots of love and good wishes. I'm sure you will get there."

"You are one amazing lady you are going to beat it," a fourth shared.

A fifth tweeted: "You are amazing Janey. I know you probably don't feel like it with all your dealing with, but you are!! You're inspirational. Thank you Janey. PS also to everyone else who is going through this, I send lots of love and hugs to you all too. Stay strong."

Earlier this week, Godley wrote on social media about how she had had an "epiphany" that she "may be facing death or survival of something I have no real control over".

Taking to Facebook on Wednesday, she said: "I think I’ve had an epiphany, I have been resisting the fact I have a life threatening cancer, I have tried to “fight and be strong” instead of accepting that this whole year I just may be facing death or survival of something I have no real control over.

She added:"I appreciate all the amazing support and I believe my mental health will improve if I just lean into the fact that this cancer is happening- I am not alone, millions of people survive this disease and living with it isn’t a failure - maybe I don’t have to fight every thing that happens to me and trust the science?"
