Janey Godley shares emotional reunion amid end-of-life care: 'I missed you'

Janey Godley has shared an emotional reunion with her beloved dog Honey as she continues receiving palliative care following her terminal cancer diagnosis.

The 63-year-old Scottish comedienne was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2021. Last month, she revealed she was now receiving "end of life care" after exhausting chemotherapy treatment options.

Despite her condition, Godley has continued to update fans through social media, recently sharing a heartwarming moment with her dachshund Honey.

The funnywoman shared a video of her dog Honey wrapped in a green blanket, lying beside her on the bed as she gently stroked the pup's ear.

Another video captured Honey shaking with excitement as she greeted Godley, who calmed her with, "I know, I missed you too." The overjoyed dog jumped up repeatedly, soaking in the love and attention from her owner.

In a separate update, she posted a smiling selfie, encouraging others to talk more openly about death after a visit from her husband, Sean Storrie.

She wrote: “Husbands coming to see me today- as every day- the sheer love and outpouring of support also talking about death and living in a hospice is a brilliant thing.

“People need to have more dialogue around death and how families are affected at this time- it’s scary I know.”

Her update comes after Godley said she would be getting palliative care and going into a hospice last month.

Last week, she has took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to confirm she has now moved into the unit.

“At the hospice now” she told her 316k followers alongside an image taken in her room, which showed she had a nice tranquil-looking view of a garden to look out at.

Godley, who found viral fame with her dubbed pastiches of Nicola Sturgeon’s coronavirus news briefings during the pandemic, revealed she had ovarian cancer in November 2021.

In 2022 the comedian was given the all-clear and said in a post to X, formerly Twitter, that a scan showed “no evidence of disease”.

However, she later announced that another scan had shown signs of the disease in her abdomen but added that she would continue touring.

In September, she cancelled her forthcoming tour this autumn due to her stage four ovarian cancer, which had been kept at bay through NHS treatment over the last few years and had returned with a few added complications.

Sharing a video update on September 26, Godley explained that “the chemo ran out of options and I just couldn’t take any more of it and the cancer has spread.

“So it looks like this will be getting to near the end of it and it’s really difficult to speak about this and say to people.”

She also thanked charities who have supported her throughout her health journey.
