Janey Godley's husband shaves her hair off completely as cancer battle continues

Janey Godley has completely shaved her hair off as her cancer battle continues.

The Scots comedian recently cut off her long locks into a pixie cut as she underwent chemotherapy to combat her ovarian cancer diagnosis.

Just before Christmas, the 61-year-old revealed that she would have to undergo a hysterectomy after doctors found a tumour on her ovary following a period of suffering stomach and back pains, a bloated tummy, loss of appetite, and frequent urination.

But despite the major op, she had to undergo further treatment as she had advanced to stage three, meaning the cancer had spread.

Janey told her followers that she wanted to cut her hair before chemo took it from her but she has now made the decision to shave it off completely.

She told her 106,000 Instagram followers that her husband helped her with her new haircut.

She wrote: "My husband has performed his first ever hair trim, with gentle care and I think he’s done a good job! #chemo

#ovariancancerawareness #MentalHealthMatters."

And fans all sent the comic their well wishes.

One wrote: "Sending love. Remember my daughter doing mine, was tough part of chemo but you will come through this lovely."

Another added: "As always, Janey, you look beautiful! sending love and hugs."

While one said: "Still look stunning Janey."

And another added: "The strength and courage you are showing is immense."

Over the weekend, Janey asked fans for advice after admitting her hair has started falling out amid her ongoing cancer treatment.

She told her followers online: "I might have to go really short as even this hair is now falling out all over the house - I don’t want to shave my head though as I have been advised against this #chemo - I’ll go get the hair trimmer and go to a number one?"

Fans gave mixed views on whether she should go shorter, shave off completely, wear a hair scarf or hat.

One said: "I was advised not to shave it off, tempted as I was, apparently that can damage the hair follicles and cause problems when it comes back, cosy hats and soft silk scarves worked well for me."

Another added: "With me a few bits kept growing even though most of it fell so I cropped to No1. Skin on my scalp got very sensitive so I didn't want to shave."

Another volunteered: "My mum got an amazing wig from Parrucche in Glasgow with the voucher you get from NHS. They are amazing in there and styled it for her too. They are really wonderful"

Janey also told her fans that she intends keeping the short cut afterwards, should her treatment work.

She replied to one follower: "Thanks pal everyone keeps saying that I won’t go back to long hair when I hopefully get the chance to do so."
