Janey Godley kicks off 'last tour of this life' and 'can't wait to laugh again'

Scots comedian Janey Godley will kick off her 'last tour of this life' later as she returns to the stage just months after being told that her ovarian cancer had returned.

The comic will entertain as part of her 'Not Dead Yet' show in Arbroath for two nights before moving around the UK.

Janey, 62, shared a picture on Twitter this morning, telling fans she "can't wait to laugh again".

She added: "Up packed and as soon as I get this incredibly sexy little house on the prairie goonie off I am heading out to go onstage tonight for the first time in ages and the last tour of this life.

"Arbroath here I come- all tickets and info on janeygodley.com I am so excited."

Janey previously told Lorraine Kelly she was determined to go "out with a bang" and will keep fighting after confirming her cancer is "treatable but not curable".

Janey was in tears as she appeared on the ITV show last month and said she's not a "human advent calendar" as people keeping asking "how long she has left".

Lorraine described her fellow Scot as "remarkably brave" as Janey spoke to the presenter via videolink, saying: "The thing about ovarian stage 3 cancer is it's treatable but not curable, and it's always there and it's always going to come back and I'm always going to have to keep fighting it.

"I'm feeling good, I'm getting the chemotherapy every week now and then a week off, I'm feeling surprising spritely just now for someone going through chemo just now, it's different from what I had before.

"People keep saying 'how long I've got left', I'm no a human advent calendar and I don't have an answer for them, I don't know how long I've got but like a mayfly I'm going to enjoy it while I can but I'm going to go on tour and if I'm gonny go oot I'll go oot with a bang."

Janey will be joined on tour by her daughter Ashley and many fans have been sending them well-wishes ahead of the first gig. One person said: "Good luck, have fun. I know you will do great."

Another tweeted: "Hope it goes really well for you, tonight & the rest of the tour.......enjoy!"

A third commented: "Excellent Janey, enjoy yourself. I know your audience will have a fabulous night xx" While a fourth replied: "All the best for the tour."

"Good luck for the tour!," penned a fifth.

Back in December last year, Janey posted a heartbreaking video on Twitter informing her followers that doctors had found signs of the disease in her abdomen just months after getting the all-clear.

She said: “My recent scan and my blood tests showed that my cancer marker went up.

“There’s still a bit of disease in my abdomen. So I want you all to know that I’ll be going through some more chemotherapy."
