Janey Godley has updated fans with good news about her cancer battle after the comedian was told she 'must' lose weight.
The 62-year-old took to Twitter to keep her loyal fleet of followers updated on her health as the stand-up comic from Glasgow is tragically suffering from an incurable form of cancer.
Janey wrote: "Been for my cancer meeting - My tumour marker is now down to normal and I am hoping the upcoming scan gives good news BUT I have to lose weight! No more bags of jelly sweets and big strawberry tarts as my fat belly is pressing against my post surgery hernia - that’ll teach me."
"I still have cancer, the chemo is keeping it at bay - it’s incurable but treatable," she updated her 288.1k social media followers.
And it wasn't long before her followers took to the social media thread to share their tips on how to shed the pounds alongside messages of love and well-wishes for the stand-up comic.
One person wrote: "Some good advice from one person who's gotta lose weight to another, mash bananas with some flavoring like vanilla, cocoa, or cinnamon and some honey, splash in a dash of milk, and put it in the freezer! Healthier ice cream for half the price, and it keeps you on a good streak!"
"I can’t eat banana thanks it irritates my hernia but I can eat healthy food and lose weight," responded Janey.
Someone else said: "This is good news (except the No jelly sweets or strawberry tarts). Best of luck for good news with the scan too."
A third fan quipped: "Good luck with it…keep a food diary…everything you eat..it helped me…"
Another added: "I hope the good news continues with the scan."
Janey's work was recognised earlier this month when she won 'Comedian's comedian' at the Chortle Awards, receiving the accolade from her treatment bed as she underwent another round of chemotherapy.
And Janey took to Twitter to thank everyone for nominating her for the award, in a video where she can be seen receiving chemotherapy treatment.
She said: "Hey everybody it's Janey here, and I'm actually getting my chemotherapy right now, I want to thank everybody who voted me, I mean I've no done comedy in a year so I think yous are very misguided but thanks everybody this has fair lifted me up and I canny wait to see you all."
She added: "This is such a lovely lovely honour and it's obvious that I had to almost die to get it but ye know, that's comedy for ye! but thanks, yous are all amazing."
The Scots comedian is currently battling cancer and, despite taking on a UK comedy tour, is also still receiving chemotherapy in between shows. She confirmed to her fans the heartbreaking news in December that her cancer had returned despite getting the all-clear in June last year.
