Janey Godley celebrates '43 years of happiness' as she marks anniversary with husband

Janey Godley has been going through a tough time recently but she's got a strong support network by her side constantly between her daughter Ashley and husband Sean.

And today, the Scots comedian, who is currently battling ovarian cancer, marked 43 years with her husband as she looked back on their engagement when she was just 16-years-old.

She shared a photo of herself smiling with her husband's hand on her head and wrote: "43 years ago today a 16yr old boy gave me a diamond ring and asked me to marry him - we were just teenagers in 1979 - he’s lying here with hiccups in his sleep cuddling my head. Been 43 years of happiness, raging moods, madness, fear anger and love - never boring though."

And many of Janey's fans took to Instagram to comment on the sweet picture.

One wrote: "Love is such a wonderous thing. That person who is your biggest cheerleader and also unwavering in times of need - and we get to be that in return. Sending gentle love to you. And happy engagement anniversary to both of you."

Another said: "Congratulations on 43 years Happy Anniversary to you both."

One wrote: "Congratulations you got each other through the best and everything else in between much more happy times to come."

While one added: "Very special. Through thick and thin."

Back in February, Sean was on hand to help his wife shave her hair off.

The 61-year-old drafted in Sean to cut off her long locks as she underwent chemotherapy to combat her ovarian cancer diagnosis.

Just before Christmas, Janey revealed that she would have to undergo a hysterectomy after doctors found a tumour on her ovary following a period of suffering stomach and back pains, a bloated tummy, loss of appetite, and frequent urination.

But despite the major op, she had to undergo further treatment as she had advanced to stage three, meaning the cancer had spread.

Janey has been sharing her cancer journey online and recently teamed up with The Beatson.

The comic donned her yellow Beatson t-shirt and urged others to make sure they get checked if they have any cancer symptoms.
