Janet Street-Porter tells people not to wear underwear in airport

Janet Street-Porter suggested people should avoid wearing underwear in airports.

The Loose Women panellist is fresh off a turbulent trip where she had to tackle the current airport chaos first-hand. She said she'd "never seen the likes of it" and was forced to queue "for ages" amid the ongoing travel disruptions and staff shortages.

After discussing the nightmare trip, Kaye Adams asked if she had any tips for travellers this summer. Whipping out a pointer stick, the 75-year-old hopped to her feet for a quick presentation some viewers claimed was "cringe."

Standing next to an electronic screen, Janet said: "Here are my top travel tips. Don't wear underwear. Based on my own experience, the less you're wearing under your baggy clothes the better. If you must wear knickers make sure they're 100% cotton. You don't want that chafing because you're on a shuffle for a long time.

"Secondly, don't waste your battery texting all your mates. You're going to be queuing, they're going to be queuing next week, and they don't want to be reminded of it. Number three, don't scowl."

The other Loose Women hosts burst into laughter at the idea of Janet advising others not to scowl given her infamously frosty demeanour. As she continued with a list of musts for airport travel, Brenda Edwards was beside herself with laughter.

The advice didn't go down well with some viewers who called the comments nauseating and "cringe." One viewer posted a gif of a person retching with a caption that said: "Don't wear underwear..."

Another viewer said: "Jeez, this is cringe."

On a lighter note, Janet had other viewers in tears of laughter as one comment said: "#JanetStreetPorter got me, just slipping off me underwear whilst alternating scowls with smiles!!"

Janet urged travellers to go into airports with a smile, a backpack and sandals as she wrapped up her list of must-haves. Brenda continued giggling to herself throughout the segment as Janet appeared giddier than ever.
