Jane says she never eats crisps and limits her intake of ‘white carbs’ such as bread and pasta.
She has also cut down on cakes, biscuits and convenience foods as she didn’t realise how much “rubbish” she was eating.
But the hardest thing for her to give up was calorific red wine.
Although it’s one of her treats, Jane has managed to limit herself to just one glass a week.
The TV star said it’s just one of the tips she learned from her appearance on ITV reality show Sugar Free Farm six years ago.
Having two meals a day, rather than three is also one of her tricks for keeping the weight off.
Revealing she starts her day with a green smoothie every other morning, Jane shared: “I blend up a mixture of raw greens, flax seeds, chia seeds, spinach, kale, mint and banana. It really is lovely.”
She explained: “If I have a breakfast, I don’t have a lunch. If I have a lunch, I don’t eat breakfast.”
Jane lost a stone and a half in just a few weeks following her stint on Sugar Free Farm.
She told Express.co.uk. “I used to eat so much rubbish. I didn’t realise how much rubbish I used to eat. I’ve always loved a pie and I was very carbohydrate-led as I was always hungry.
“I didn’t realise that if you eat the wrong things, it doesn’t feed your body so you will want more.
“My schedule takes a lot of energy, but I was beginning to get quite tired and I was blaming it on age.”
The show taught Jane a lot about eating healthily and she admits she no longer eats bread that contains yeast.
Instead she makes her own from a recipe she got from Angelique Panagos, the ITV show’s nutritionist.
Jane revealed it is made with wholemeal flour, oats, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and yoghurt and is ready to put in the oven in 20 minutes.
These days the contents of Jane’s fridge are super healthy and she eats a lot of salads and lean meat which she says have given her a “new lease of life”.
