Jane Fonda looks younger than ever at 85 as she works out after positive cancer news

Jane Fonda has taken to social media to emphasise how important it is to stay active, calling movement a “blessing”.

The Hollywood star, 85, uploaded a post to Instagram of herself sat upon a stationary exercise bike. She had donned a figure-hugging cropped tracksuit jacket with matching high waisted jogging bottoms, in a royal blue colour. She wore a sports top underneath the ensemble and finished the look with a pair of white trainers.

She captioned the post: "Movement isn’t just important, it’s a blessing. Let’s move together in 2023."

Jane believes that making time every day to exercise is important, saying: "The people who already move know why it's not only important but why it's really a blessing.

“Now in my eighties, it's even more important. Suddenly getting in and out of a car is kind of hard unless you have strong thighs.

“So you do it not because of how you look. You want to be able to live fully."

Jane recently gave an interview to Elle, in which she discussed her exercise routine, admitting that she does her own fitness video, Jane Fonda Workout.

The message was poignant given Jane's cancer is in remission (Jane Fonda/Instagram)

She said: "It's still relevant today because it really works. I'm 85 now and I can't do the full workout per se, but I do the same moves only slower and with less weight, every day. You want to be able to carry your grandchildren. And I can still do that."

The message was extra poignant given that the actress’s non-Hodgkin's lymphoma was revealed to be in remission.

Jane announced her cancer diagnosis in September, then going on to reveal it was in remission, in December.

Doctors have now told her that she can now discontinue her chemotherapy treatment.

In her latest health update, she said: "I am feeling so blessed, so fortunate. I thank all of you who prayed and sent good thoughts my way. I am confident that it played a role in the good news.

"I'm especially happy because while my first four chemo treatments were rather easy for me, only a few days of being tired, the last chemo session was rough and lasted two weeks making it hard to accomplish much of anything."
