PATNA: Asked for his reaction over the ruling NDA’s defeat in Bochaha assembly by-polls, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Sunday said the voters are actual masters (in democracy), and they are free to vote whosoever they like.
“Janata Malik Hai (voters are actual masters). They vote whosoever they like. It is not proper to give reaction over the peoples’ verdict,” Nitish said while responding to a media query at the JD(U) office in the state capital Patna.
The opposition RJD stunned the ruling NDA on Saturday after its greenhorn candidate Amar Kumar Paswan defeated the BJP candidate and former MLA Baby Kumari by a huge margin of 36,658 votes in the by-election.
Reacting over the incident of violence in Jahangirpuri area of Delhi during ‘Shobha Yatra’ on April 16, Bihar CM said that there is a complete alertness in his state. “Incidents had happened in Delhi and other areas. There is a complete alertness in Bihar, investigation takes place properly in the state. The situation in the state is pretty good as of now,” he said.
Nitish’s statement holds relevance as no incident of mob violence or communal violence was reported from any part of Bihar during the Ram Navami or the Hanuman Jayanti.
Nitish was responding to media queries after paying floral tributes on the body of former Sitamarhi MP Nawal Kishor Rai who breathed his last at a hospital in New Delhi on Saturday.
Body of Rai, a three-time MP from Sitamarhi Lok Sabha constituency, was on Sunday brought to the state JD(U) office where several leaders of the party led by Nitish Kumar paid tributes to the departed leader.
Nitish said he had a very long political association with Rai.
“When our leader and former Bihar CM Jannayak Karpoori Thakur made me the president of Youth wing of the erstwhile Lok Dal, Rai was appointed as general secretary of the same organization. Rai later became the MP from Sitamarhi three time. He did very good work for his constituency. I am deeply hurt over the untimely demise of Rai,” Nitish said.
