
After more than a year of investigation and a series of blockbuster public hearings over the summer, the House of Representatives select committee charged with investigating the circumstances that led to the worst attack on the US Capitol since 1814 will vote on adopting its final report and issuing a series of referrals to the Department of Justice and other agencies on Monday, 19 December.
The panel of seven Democrats, along with Republican representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, is set to release not just a comprehensive report on the riot and its genesis in former president Donald Trump’s post-2020 election push to nullify the results and remain in the White House for a second term against the wishes of American voters, but the entire body of evidence it has collected over the course of its multi-year probe.
