Jammu and Kashmir: High level security meet held amid spurt in 'terror activities' in Rajouri-Poonch

JAMMU: A high-level security meeting was held on Saturday to discuss an action plan to counter the emerging threat after a spurt in terror activities in Rajouri and Poonch disticts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Police spokesperson said: "The high level meeting was held in Rajouri and it was attended by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu zone, Mukesh Singh; GOC 25 Division and GOC Romeo force.

"The meeting was also attended by intelligence agencies, Brigade Commanders, SSPs of Rajouri and Poonch and SP operations (Shopian).

"During the meetiong detailed discussion was held on the recent trends on terrorist activities in which the intelligence agencies briefed all present, police spoksperson added.

He said, "An action plan was devised to counter the emerging threat."

"Earlier ADGP Jammu Zome Mr Singh also visited the Thanamandi bowl and was briefed by the SSP and SDPO on suspected movement of terrorists.

"He also visited IRP 2nd Batallion headquarters where a guard of honour was presented to him,"official spokspersn said, adding, "ADGP Jammu also held separate meetings with police officials and gave instructions to each officer regarding the role and responsibilities in countering the Terrorist threat."

The meeting comes after a pre dawn terror attack ( on August 11) at an Army establishment in Parghal Rajouri in which two fidayeens (suicide attackers) attacked an Army camp in Budhal Rajouri killing four soldiers. The attackers were also eliminated during operation.

On August 14, terrorists fired at security forces during a cordon-and-search operation in the Sojan forest area of Samote in Rajouri but managed to escape taking advantage of bad weather conditions.
