Jammu and Kashmir: Army rescues ten passengers stranded along Mughal road

JAMMU: The Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) of Army troops rescued ten civilians who got stranded during late Friday night along the landslide-hit Mughal Road in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

PRO Defence Jammu Lt Col Devender Anand said, "late last night at around 1100pm, Army Unit received an SOS call from police regarding a landslide which had blocked the Old Mughal Road. Acting swiftly after the information was received, the Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) teams of Army alongwith local Police rushed to the spot and launched the rescue operation."

Col Anand said, "The rescue team found six vehicles along with passengers stranded and after taking stock of the situation, they promptly started clearing the debris and rescued 10 civilians including a lady and a child."

"After safe evacuation, the stranded passengers were then provided with heating arrangements and meals", he said.

"The locals were extremely grateful to the joint Rescue Team for their timely response in extricating them from the landslide location," Col Anand added .
