Jamie O'Hara turns Rangers cheerleader but Celtic troll job continues as he names Champions League 'saving grace'

Bullish Jamie O'Hara reckons Rangers can go beyond the Champions League group stage this term - but insisted this would be the end of the road for Celtic.

The loudmouth talkSPORT presenter has upset fans north of the border in the past with some of his controversial takes on Scottish football, and caught flak from Parkhead fans ahead of the Champions League group stage opener with Real Madrid having claimed the Scottish Premiership champions would get 'pumped' by the European champions. The Group F opener ended in a 3-0 defeat for Ange Postecoglou's men, but Celtic earned plaudits for giving Carlo Ancelotti's men a first-half scare.

However, the pundit has tipped his cap to Gio van Bronckhorst's men when speaking to talkSPORT EDGE as he talked up Rangers ' prospects of reaching the last 16. O'Hara was quick to play down any chance of Celtic qualifying to the knockouts despite an eye-catching showing against Carlo Ancelotti's side.

When asked about Celtic, the pundit said: "They will go out in the group stages, for me. I'm sorry. I mean, I think they finish third. They could drop into the Europa League."

However, when it came to Rangers he was bullish about last season's Europa League finalists chances ahead of their group stage opener with Ajax. He reckons the Ibrox side's home form could be the "saving grace" for Scottish Premiership clubs in Europe this term.

The former Tottenham midfielder said: “The saving grace for Rangers is that they’re going to have three home games. They’re unbelievable at home so they might have a chance you know

“Do you know what, I am going to give Rangers second in the group stage. They’re going to get through and then they’ll get knocked out."
