Jamie McCart hoping Celtic connection can help him settle into life at Rotherham

Jamie McCart is hopeful a Celtic connection can help him settle into his new life with Rotherham United.

The 25-year-old has penned a three-year deal with the Millers to bring to an end a hugely successful two and a half years with St Johnstone.

The defender completed a memorable cup double with Saints last year and also played in Europe but has admitted he could not turn down the chance to play in the English Championship next season.

The Scotland under-21 cap is now relishing the challenge with newly-promoted Rotherham, where former Parkhead team-mates Jamie Lindsay is a well-established first-team favourite.

McCart said: “It’s always good when you go somewhere new that you know someone.

“I knew Jamie very well when we were younger.

“He’s done very well here and hopefully he helps me settle in and I can achieve the same success.

“I had an absolutely fantastic time at St Johnstone and absolutely loved it there.

“The fans, the staff, everyone at the club was amazing.

“So I wanted to thank them for my time there.

“But, at the same time, I’m excited for this new opportunity and hopefully I can have the same success at Rotherham.”

He added to iFollow Millers: “The attraction is to play in the English Championship. Most people would jump at that chance.

“It’s a really good opportunity for me and it’s something I’m excited to get started with.”
