Jamie Foxx is 'lucky to be alive' after suffering a terrifying medical complication

Jamie Foxx is "lucky to be alive" after he was hospitalised with a "serious medical complication", according to a source.

The 55-year-old actor is said to have needed immediate medical attention after being taken to hospital while in Atlanta shooting his upcoming Netflix movie Back in Action.

Doctors are yet to get to the bottom of what happened to Jamie, but a source has said it was "touch and go" at first.

"Jamie suffered a serious medical episode and needed immediate attention. It was touch and go for days with him, and he had to be revived — he is very lucky to be alive!

The source also explained how doctors likely saved his life.

"He's very lucky he got the treatment he did. Jamie suffers from high blood pressure, which doctors say can cause clots in the brain leading to a stroke.

"Doctors believe this was a long time coming, and really, if they hadn't acted fast, Jamie might well have been a goner," the source told radaronline.

Jamie is is said to be well on the road to recovery and has been surrounded by his family during his health crisis.

His daughter, Corinne, took to Instagram to update fans on her father's condition.

"We wanted to share that my father Jamie Foxx experienced a medical complication yesterday."

"Luckily due to quick action and great care he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time," she wrote.

A source had revealed there had been "changes in production" on the set of Back in Action following Jamie's hospitalisation.

An email obtained by People Magazine informed extras that a scene set to be filmed had instead been cancelled.

The scene is reportedly not set to be rescheduled due to the changes.
