Jamie Dornan supports project to raise money for mental health charities in NI

Jamie Dornan showed his support for a project designed to raise money for mental health charities in Northern Ireland.

A painting was delivered to Hooked, a gym in East Belfast, which was commissioned as part of the Minding Minds Together project.

So far, artists Niall Conlon and Paul Doran have raised £14,500 for mental health charities across NI through the initiative.

Niall said: “It was appropriate that during Mental Health Awareness week we were finally able to deliver myself and Paul Doran‘s collaboration painting 'Go For It' to its new home in Jake McBride‘s beautiful new boutique boxing gym Hooked Belfast.

"It was also magic to have Jamie Dornan there to support the Minding Minds Together project and discuss the positive benefits that the arts and sport can have on our mental health.

"A big thank you to Davy Millar and John Carrigan from Fraser Millar NI for commissioning this collaboration painting and donating much needed funds to support the Wave Trauma Centre."

A spokesperson previously said: "On the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, artists Paul Doran and Niall Conlon feel that there has never been a more important time to prioritise the mental health of our population.

"The artists have created a series of artworks to raise funds to support mental health and suicide prevention charities across Northern Ireland."

The Minding Minds Together project artworks were exhibited in Ross’s Auction House and were for sale alongside the opportunity for the public to commission their own unique artwork, with 50% of the proceeds being donated to local mental health charities.

The exhibition ran from April 21 to May 5.
