Jamie Carragher is seeking to settle a reported tax debt of between £700,000 and £800,000 after HM Revenue and Customs filed a bankruptcy petition against him, with his representatives saying they expect the dispute to be resolved before the case progresses.
HMRC filed the petition at the High Court in London on 26 August against James Lee Duncan Carragher, court records show. The court has not declared Carragher bankrupt, and HMRC has not confirmed the reported debt.
