Jamie Carragher believes it is complete 'nonsense' that Ralf Rangnick will be working 'part-time' at Manchester United while manager of Austria.
Rangnick confirmed last week that he will become the manager of Austria when he steps down as United’s interim boss at the end of the season. The German has signed a two-year deal until Euro 2024.
However, the former RB Leipzig boss will still go ahead with his two-year consultancy role at Old Trafford. The 63-year-old has two games left in charge before handing over to Erik ten Hag.
Confirming his appointment as Austria boss, Rangnick said the post was 'an honour' and he is excited to take charge. However, Liverpool legend Carragher can’t see how that’s been allowed to happen and believes the whole thing is wrong.

“Ralf Rangnick isn’t really a manager, he’s a director of football, he’s someone who helps the coaches or builds the club,” he said on Sky Sports on Monday night.
“I’ll be honest with you, I just don’t get that. I don’t think you can be manager of Austria and work for Manchester United. He can work for Manchester United in that role…well that’s wrong. That should not be happening.
“The manager of Austria should not be working part time for Manchester United. That’s just a nonsense! It’s one or the other.”
