Jamie Carragher has praised Erik ten Hag for the way he has dealt with the incident involving Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.
An unused substitute in United’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night, Ronaldo left the bench and walked down the tunnel in the 89th minute. The forward is claimed to have briefly gone into the dressing room before leaving Old Trafford.
Speaking afterwards, Ten Hag said that he would 'deal with' the issue on Thursday. And just before 6pm this evening, United released a statement confirming that Ronaldo had been axed from the United squad to face Chelsea this weekend.

"Cristiano will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday's game against Chelsea. The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture,” a club statement read.
It is also being reported that Ronaldo is now expected to train away from the first-team squad. And taking to twitter following the news, Carragher claimed Ten Hag had handled the situation 'perfectly'.
He wrote: “After a difficult start ETH has really stamped his authority on #MUFC on & off the pitch. Their performance against Spurs was one of the best of recent years & he has dealt with the Ronaldo situation perfectly since day one.”
Earlier this month, Carragher backed Ten Hag’s decision to leave Ronaldo on the bench for United’s 6-3 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad.
“The idea that ETH got it wrong yesterday by not playing Ronaldo is laughable!” he said on Twitter. “Ronaldo played at Brentford when it was 4-0 at ht!!
“It’s not a dig at CR, but Rashford’s pace on the counter attack as we saw v Arsenal/Liverpool was 100 [per cent] the best option.”
