Jamie Carragher has described himself as an 'idiot' for doubting Jurgen Klopp's decision to start Caoimhin Kelleher for the Carabao Cup final ahead of Alisson.
Kelleher had started all but one of the Reds' League Cup matches this season, with Alisson only featuring in the semi-final first leg with Arsenal to build fitness after being sidelined through Covid.
Chelsea followed suit by trusting their second-choice to feature between the sticks in this competition, with Kepa preferred to Edouard Mendy.

Klopp stuck by Kelleher for today's final, resisting the urge to go full-strength, though the same could not be said for Thomas Tuchel who called Mendy into his starting-eleven.
It was Kelleher who proved to be the eventual hero, however, as he scored the winning penalty as Kepa skied his spot-kick into the stands.
Reacting to the performance of the Reds' Irish shot-stopper after the match, Carragher admitted he was wrong to doubt the decision to place trust in the 23-year-old for this showpiece fixture.

"Brilliant. Listen, anyone could’ve won that. It was a really tight game. The shootout, some of the penalties were absolutely out of this world and it fell to the goalkeeper," he told Sky Sports.
"I was the idiot before the game who questioned Jurgen Klopp slightly in terms of playing Kelleher," continued Carragher.
"He’s now the hero. When you’re getting late on in the game, who’s going to be the hero? That man is the hero. To take the last penalty to then win the cup...I mean, as I said, Chelsea played really well, Liverpool played really well. Two brilliant teams and someone’s unfortunately got to lose."
