Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville agree on Aaron Ramsdale Arsenal title verdict

Arsenal's 2-2 draw against Liverpool may feel more like a defeat to those of a Gunners persuasion after a late Roberto Firmino equaliser gave Manchester City a boost in the Premier League title race.

A superb opening 30 minutes at Anfield saw the visitors assume a two-goal lead, courtesy of well-taken efforts from Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus.

However, an incident between Granit Xhaka and Trent Alexander Arnold would soon spark a change in momentum to favour Jurgen Klopp's side as Mohammed Salah pulled one back shortly before half-time.

The Egyptian then squandered a golden chance to level things up after he missed a penalty kick in the 54th minute but was left to thank Firmino when the Brazilian headed in an Alexander-Arnold cross just three minutes from time.

With the Merseyside crowd roaring their side on, Liverpool came within inches of claiming all three points but were spectacularly denied on two occasions by Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Salah would first see a deflected effort from the edge of the penalty area brilliantly fingertipped wide of the post by Ramsdale before the 24-year-old shot-stopper went on better to prevent Ibrahima Konate from finding the net.

Alexander-Arnold's lofted ball into the area from the second phase of a set-piece was headed across goal by Virgil van Dijk, leaving a gaping portion of the net for Konate to put the ball in. Whilst the Frenchman should have made better contact and scored, Ramsdale demonstrated sublime mobility to move between the sticks and stop the ball from crossing the line.

Such heroics were heralded on co-commentary by former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher and ex-Manchester United star Gary Neville, with both suggesting his saves could be defining in the title race.

"How did Konate miss? Konate didn’t know what to do, he just tried to stomach it in," Carragher stated after Konate was denied. Oh my. How much of an impact is this going to have on the title?

On save from Salah, Neville added: "This is some save. The deflection, it makes it even more difficult for him. Who knows, that might win Arsenal the title, you never know."
