Jamie Carragher believes Eddie Nketiah won't end up being Arsenal 's first-choice striker and should move on to pastures new this summer.
The forward continued his impressive recent run, scoring twice in his side's 2-1 win over Leeds as they close in on the top four. Nketiah has notched four times in his last four outings as he enjoys a rare run in the team ahead of a crunch summer decision. His contract is up once the season ends, leaving him free to exit the Emirates.
His opportunities recently have seen people question whether both parties may be open to extending beyond this summer with Arsenal's forward options set to be depleted. Nketiah has showcased his quality but Carragher is adamant that the north Londoners will not pin their hopes on him.
He told Sky Sports: "Yes ( Arsenal should try to keep him) but I don’t think he’ll ever end up first-choice striker, so I think it would be better for him to move on." The Gunners saw Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave in January whilst Alexandre Lacazette is poised to follow him this summer.
Nketiah has found himself behind the pair for much of the season and remained coy when quizzed on his next move. He said on Sunday: “It’s amazing, it’s always nice to score, but I think it’s a big three points, like I said before the game. We’ve been working hard and we want to do it for the fans. It’s amazing to be able to get the three points and it moves us closer to our objective.
“Any player wants to be playing and have the opportunities. I’ve worked hard throughout the season to make sure I was ready when I got my chance. Credit to my team-mates for helping me when I play and do what I want. I’m just happy to be in the team and helping the team.”

Mikel Arteta has long spoken of his desire to keep Nketiah at the Emirates. He said after his Leeds performance: "Eddie is doing what he’s done all season, he’s been very consistent, with his performances and how little he is giving things away! Let him be, let him enjoy the moment because he completely deserves it and things will happen naturally."
The forward however did recently confess to that he has received offers ahead of this summer. He told The Beautiful Game podcast : “There have been offers of a new contract but at the moment my aim is to play football and play regularly. That’s my ambition and that’s what I hope to do but at the same time I’m at Arsenal, I love Arsenal.”
