Rangers skipper James Tavernier admits it is an 'absolute joy' working under Michael Beale as he revealed his minor slip up in training.
The former Ibrox No2 under Steven Gerrard returned north of the border to take on the big job after arriving from QPR following the sacking of Giovanni van Bronckhorst. The hard work behind the scenes has gone on ever since with a competitive bow taking place against Hibs later today. He got off the mark in a 3-0 friendly win over Bayer Leverkusen but the real action starts tonight at Ibrox.
Tavernier believes Beale will make the Rangers team stronger as he takes control of the ship and stamps his own philosophy on the team. The return has been made easier by his previous stint in Govan - and that may have been at the back of the mind of the skipper when he made a small error in addressing his new boss in training, he said: "Obviously he is gaffer now. I think I have only called him Mick once in training and I stopped myself doing it.

"He will enjoy it more. It is his ship now. He can do what he wants to the team, it is his philosophy.
"It is an absolute joy working under him again and I think he is going to make the team stronger."
Tavernier can't wait to get the Premiership action back up and running later tonight when Lee Johnson's men come calling in Govan. Rangers went into the shutdown trailing rivals Celtic by nine points in the title race and the skipper has challenged his side to 'push on' in what is a new start for the team.
He added: "After a break, you really can't wait to get back in and start going again.
"It's never nice to see a manager lose their job but there is a fresh face in the camp, obviously a new face to quite a few and an old face to the others.
"But it is great to see the gaffer back in the building and we have all really enjoyed working with him.
"So it is new faces, new tactics and a new start for the team. We have to push on."
