James Tarkowski knows his side have put their fate in their own hands ahead of the game against Newcastle United on the final day of the Premier League season. The Clarets must simply match Leeds United's result in order to secure their divisional status next season.
A point away at Aston Villa ensured Mike Jackson's side would have control of their own destiny, but Tarkowski knows that it's far from done. The Clarets welcome back former boss Eddie Howe to Turf Moor, with the Magpies hoping to secure a place in the top-half of the table.
Callum Wilson has already lay down a marker and said Newcastle are going to Turf Moor to win the game, despite being safe from relegation. Tarkowski claims the point against Aston Villa was an important one and he would have taken it before kick-off.

He told Sky Sports: "It’s good, it leaves it in our hands going into the weekend. It is important to get a point today, it would have been nice to get the three points and take a little bit of pressure off us, but it’s a big game at the weekend either way.
"A good performance in the end and we nearly nicked it, but we go again at the weekend. As I said, it leaves it in our hands going into the weekend which is the most important thing.
"We have got the experience, the quality, the knowhow, and the team spirit. It has been a difficult season for us and to get ourselves into a position from where we were we have done brilliant, but nothing is done yet."
