James Rodriguez has sent a message to Luis Diaz following Liverpool’s cup success.
Liverpool won a nail-biting shoot-out with Chelsea to win the Carabao Cup 11-10 on penalties after the end-to-end final at Wembley finished 0-0 after extra-time.
It was the ninth time that the Reds had lifted the League Cup trophy, making them the most successful club in the competition’s history.
It was also the first time that Jurgen Klopp had won a domestic cup since taking over as Liverpool boss in October 2015.

One of the star performers for the German coach’s side was new signing Diaz.
Starting a Wembley final in only his sixth game for the club, the Colombian was given the nod by Klopp given the absence of Roberto Firmino and given Diogo Jota had been struggling for fitness following injury.
And the winger made the most of his opportunity, providing a constant attacking outlet for Liverpool on the left-flank as the 25-year-old looked to stretch the Chelsea defence.
Playing 97 minutes before being substituted for Divock Origi in extra-time, Diaz earned his first medal with the Reds ust a matter of weeks after joining the club, prompting a message from Colombia international team-mate Rodriguez, who up until the summer played for Merseyside rivals Everton.
“Congratulations, the first of many, little fighter,” the former Real Madrid star wrote on Instagram under Diaz’s post celebrating the trophy win.
Diaz has been an instant success in his time with Liverpool, grabbing his first goal for the club against Norwich City in February.
With the Reds still competing for three other trophies, the winger provides competition and the option for Klopp to rest one of his forwards as the club continue to navigate a packed fixture list.
