James Martin reveals he took Dame Mary Berry for a six-hour clubbing session in Ibiza

James Martin has revealed he once took Dame Mary Berry for a six-hour night out at a club in Ibiza.

The TV chef, 50, left Holly Willoughby and co-host Dermot O’Leary stunned by the admission during Monday’s episode of ITV’s This Morning.

He revealed that not only did the 88-year-old baking legend love the experience, “she even hit the dancefloor”.

The amazing anecdote came up when Martin was quizzed by Willoughby, who asked: “I hear you’ve got a bit of a story about Ibiza?”

He replied: “It’s a claim to fame! I took Mary Berry for a six-hour night out in Pacha.”

Clearly shocked, the mum-of-three replied: “Are you kidding me? Did she enjoy it?”

Martin nodded, saying: “She did - she led me astray. She even hit the dancefloor.”

“I’ve just got this image of Mary Berry in a bikini and a whistle,” laughed Willoughby in disbelief.

Former Great British Bake-Off judge Berry has previously spoken about living it up at the iconic party venue.

Speaking to Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett’s Dish podcast, she recalled one visit, saying: “I can remember thinking this is terribly exciting, and I can remember going up the steps into Pacha where somebody came forward and stamped you.

“I’d never been stamped before, I thought, will it ever come off? It was like a rabbit warren. It was narrow and there were lots of floors and lots of paths, and everybody was drinking and smoking.”

She added: “It suddenly struck me that if there was a fire, would we ever get out? But even so - it was good fun.”
