TV chef James Martin apologised after being moved to tears during an episode of ITV's Saturday Morning. The hugely popular 49-year-old chef was marking a TV milestone as his show returned to the channel this morning and he became emotional when he announced that he was celebrating his 200th episode for ITV.
He celebrated in style by driving a vintage car into the studio. James had already hosted BBC 's Saturday Kitchen for 10 years before making the move to ITV in 2016. And he got a little choked up when several famous faces appeared on the show to pass on their congratulations for his achievement.
During the show, chef Brian Turner paid tribute to his friend, saying: "200 shows and still going strong! Who would have thought it? Nevertheless , it took a Yorkshireman like you and a great chef. Son, we're very proud of you! Keep it going!" Lisa Goodwin-Allen then said: "It's a real testament to you and the team behind the scenes."
He was left speechless and emotional by the tributes and, reading from the autocue, he appeared bewildered as he admitted that he "didn't know what was coming".
Chef Paul Ainsworth also appeared and said: "Hey Yorkshire, it's Cornish. Happy 200th show! Congratulations, that's absolutely amazing! It's an honour to be a small part of that show from time to time. Love you to bits, congratulations."
Chefs Jose Pizzaro, Lisa Goodwin-Allen, Francesco Mazzei, Stephen Terry and Dipna Anand also made appearances, leading James to become emotional as he wiped away a few tears.
Fans also took to Twitter to congratulate him, with one writing: "Congratulations on 200 shows. Thank you all for the excellent advice, laughter and memories. Here’s to another 200. Thank you sir."
