James Maddison has spoken for the first time after completing £40 million move to Tottenham from Leicester City. The 26-year-old has joined the club on a five-year contract which will run until the summer of 2028.
The attacking midfielder becomes Ange Postecoglou's third signing with Guglielmo Vicario following Dejan Kulusevski through the door in sealing a permanent transfer. Newcastle were leading the race for the England international but a move for Sandro Tonali for the Magpies took the priority. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy then took that chance to move quickly to sign Maddison following the Foxes' Premier League relegation.
Leicester had set a valuation of £60 million, but Spurs have been able to pull off an impressive summer transfer swoop to sign him for just £40m. Speaking for the first time following his move, Maddison said: "Hello Tottenham Hotspur fans James Maddison here, I can't wait to meet you all, come on you Spurs!"
