James Harden is not in attendance for the 76ers’ annual preseason media day Monday as he continues to push for a trade, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Harden is upset that he has yet to be dealt to his preferred team, the Clippers.
Harden could be fined for missing Philadelphia’s media day, and the team is scheduled to leave for Colorado to begin training camp immediately afterward. The 76ers are scheduled to spend several days training at Colorado State, but there’s currently no indication that Harden will join them.
The 10-time All Star requested a trade early this offseason and has maintained that stance ever since. Things came to a head in August when Harden called team president Daryl Morey a “liar,” adding, “I will never be part of an organization that he’s a part of.”
Philadelphia and Los Angeles have engaged in trade talks, but there doesn’t appear to be any traction on a deal, per Wojnarowski. Philadelphia is set to the open the season against the Bucks on Oct. 26.
