Nottingham Forest fans have given their reaction to former loanee James Garner making his debut for Everton against former club Manchester United.
The midfielder was a key part of the Forest squad who won promotion back to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years last season. Despite making history at the club, a permanent move to the City Ground in the summer didn’t materialise.
Garner instead completed a deadline day move from Old Trafford to Goodison Park. The 21-year-old signed a four-year deal with the Toffees for an undisclosed fee.

Since moving to Everton, the former Forest man has found game time hard to come by. He was an unused substitute for four of the club’s eight matches in the Premier League so far but was left out of the squad completely for the other four.
Garner was again named on the bench for the clash against Manchester United. But this time he did make his way onto the pitch to make his debut for Everton vs his old club with 15 minutes left to play.
In that time he forced David De Gea into a save as the Toffees pushed for an equaliser in the closing minutes. The game however finished 2-1 to Manchester United.
As Garner made his way onto the pitch, Forest fans took to social media to give their reaction. Here’s what just some had to say.
David : Seeing Garner on for Everton hurts a lot more than I thought what a player though #NFFC
Scott Lee Helmkay : Great to see Jimmy Garner getting on the pitch for Everton. Hope he gets in regular and gets the game time he deserves. Would’ve loved to have had him back in the garibaldi
Forestfan302 : glad garner’s getting the minutes he deserves #NFFC
Matthew Skinner : Great to see Garner get a chance to shine in the PL. Shame it’s not for us #NFFC
PiereNFFC2 : james garner playing in the premier league but it’s not for forest
Louis Wheelson : Seeing Garner out the Garibaldi [crying emoji]
Rhys Smith : Never catch feelings for a loan player! Garners few touches when he came on and that forward pass is exactly what we are missing #NFFC
