James Corden has come under fire this week after a New York restaurant owner branded him a "cretin of a man" for "yelling like crazy" at his staff over an omelette.
The comedian, 44, was barred by Balthazar SoHo eatery owner Keith McNally, who later lifted it claiming James had rung him personally to "apologise profusely".
Keith shared two separate reports from managers of his Balthazar eateries – where one claimed he was "extremely nasty" to one waiter and "demanded" a round of drinks after finding hair in his food.
Another report claimed Corden "yelled like crazy" at a waiter after a mix-up with his wife's order, leaving the server "shaken".
James' alleged diva behaviour seems a far cry from his Smithy character the nation grew to love in his hit BBC Gavin & Stacey sitcom.
But in a resurfaced clip from 2019, James is told by Piers Morgan that his once best pal Mathew Horne, also 44, who starred as Gavin on the show, refused to be interviewed with him - before asking what happened to their friendship.
Piers asked James: "Do you talk much?", to which the actor replied: "We talk occasionally, yeah."
To which the TV host said: "We asked him to take part in this programme and he chose not to."
A stunned James replied: "I didn't know that, but I can understand why because its a hard time to talk about."
While Piers said: "Half of it is fantastic to talk about," with James saying: "But when you know what's coming, when you know that it doesn't end in the way that it could have done. I can understand why it wouldn't. I still hope one day we will doing something together."
The pair were once inseparable as Gavin & Stacey bagged numerous awards and attended premieres, showbiz parties and embarked on other acting projects together.
Corden even admitted, for a while, he and Mathew might as well have been "one person". But somewhat out of nowhere, it looked like it all went wrong.
James went to Los Angeles where he made his millions as the Late Late Show host, while Mat landed considerably smaller TV projects admitting he found "fame pretty empty" and moved to a small village in Scotland.
Mathew later addressed their so-called feud after years of speculation, saying there was never any bad blood between them as they reunited to film the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special.
But the actor did hint there had once been some drama, admitting that he was a "relief" that he and Corden "didn't need to do anything" to "heal their rift" in time for the Gavin and Stacey comeback.
