James Corden sparks mixed reviews as he's set to return to the UK after quitting US show

Fans have reacted to the news James Corden is reportedly returning to the UK, after quitting his role as host of the Late Late Show in the US.

During his time on the Late Late Show, he created segments including Carpool Karaoke, which featured high-profile names including Adele, Michelle Obama, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga.

James confirmed the news he would be leaving the show during his opening monologue to kick off Thursday’s episode, and it was later reported that the Gavin & Stacey star was heading back to the UK with wife Jules and their kids - Max, 11, Carey, 7, and Charlotte, 4.

Fans reacted to the news on Twitter, with many joking that the actor and comedian should stay in the US.

“A reminder that the UK isn't taking James Corden back,” one quipped.

“Sad to hear this morning that James Corden is returning to the UK,” another tweeted.

“Heartbroken to read the news this morning that James Corden is returning to the UK in 2023,” one joked.

While another added: “Has anyone started a crowdfunding appeal to keep James Corden in the USA?”

One fan joked that James should be stopped from returning to the UK, in case he tries to get himself a role in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the hit musical Wicked.

“James Corden is apparently returning to the UK. The police have said they are taking this threat very seriously and will be increasing security on the set of the Wicked movie to be safe,” they joked.

While some of his fans shared their sadness over James’ decision to leave The Late Late Show, with many wanting him to carry on in the coveted role.

And some of his fans in the US took to social media to react to the star's shock decision.

“That’s a bummer. I love his chemistry with the staff on that show. Makes the monologues great,” one wrote.

“This literally breaks my heart.... I'm a day one fan!!” one devastated viewer added.
